Parasitic diseases is an important
problem in many of the third world countries and this will
exaggerate failure to thrive and anemia in children. This case is an
8 years old Afghani girl with fever , nonproductive cough ,night
sweat and weight loss since 2 months before admission in pediatric
ward (IMAM HOSSEIN HOSPITAL)in 82/1/9(8th,april,2003) and
because of a history of close contact with a patient with
tuberculosis, the primary diagnosis was lung tuberculosis . Chest X
Ray with homogenous dullness on left lower lobe which obscured the
diaphragm suggested pleural effusion. On admission ,pleural fluid
aspiration was done, but on CTSCAN hydatic cyst was shown and left
lower lobectomy and hydatic cyst evacuation was done on 82/1/26(15th,april,2003).
Conclusion: more caution is recommended in nonemergency diagnostic
tests especially if there would be a probable morbidity
